Privacy policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026

This privacy policy tells you what you need to know about the data we collect and process through the app “Halo - your last Book Tracker”, the readhalo.app website and our servers. It may change: the date at the top of the page shows when it was last updated, and we will tell you about any significant change.

What we collect

Information you give us

Information collected automatically

We do not collect your location, your contacts, audio from your microphone, or any advertising identifier. Halo needs your content and its identifiers to work; signing in with Google or Apple is optional.

How we use your information

We use your data to provide the service you ask for; for security, improvement and support, because we have a legitimate interest in running a reliable app that reads pages well; and to comply with the law when you exercise your rights. We never sell your data, show you ads or track you across apps and websites, and we make no automated decisions about you.

Who helps us

Service providers process data on our behalf: hosting and storage, in the European Union; Google, for sign-in, crash reports and the text recognition that runs on your phone; email. They use your data only to provide these services to us, and must protect it at least as well as we do. If you sign in with Google or Apple, they handle that sign-in under their own policies.

Some of these providers are in the United States, under the EU's safeguards: standard contractual clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Your data is encrypted in transit, and access to it is restricted.

How long

As long as your account exists. When you delete it, all the data linked to your account is deleted. Only anonymized data that helps improve the app, such as statistics or captures, may remain: it can no longer identify you. Some technical records, such as our server logs and backups, are kept for at most 90 days, for security.

Your rights

Your data remains yours. You can view it, correct it, delete it, restrict how it is used, or get a copy to take elsewhere. You can delete your account whenever you like, in the app (Moi › Réglages › Compte) or on this site. If you believe your rights are not respected, you can contact the data protection authority of your country (the CNIL in France).

You can also refuse to let your captures be used to improve page reading by writing to us: your next captures will no longer be kept for this purpose, and those already used will only remain in anonymized form. More generally, you can object to any use of your data based on our legitimate interest.

To exercise your rights, write to support@readhalo.app.

Halo is published by the developer named on its App Store and Google Play pages. For any question about this policy or your data, write to support@readhalo.app.
